Polarised
Polarised

This project, made in collaboration with Xavier Touikan, used TouchDesigner, Python libraries and machine learning algorithms to generate a visual virtual being that would interact with a user in front of it. This virtual being reacts to the movements of the user and replies to the user’s speech using polarized positive or negative recently-posted political tweets that have been classified using sentiment analysis. This visual representation of artificial intelligence symbolizes the absurdity in using text classification to organize and filter agora-like online networked environments, since it is not conducive to meaningful conversation and, if anything, reinforce the echo-chamber effect and identity politics. The project is also a representation of the science fiction personification and idealization of artificial intelligence.

This project was presented as part of the In.Finite virtual exhibition, in the spring of 2021.
